It is dedicated to Lord Shiva, especially in his Rinmukteshwar form, and is believed to remove obstacles in career, business, and personal growth.
The ritual also addresses the three Vedic debts: Pitra Rin (ancestral), Dev Rin (divine), and Rishi Rin (towards sages).
King Harishchandra is said to have performed this puja at Rinmukteshwar Mahadev Temple in Ujjain during Satyug.
